Canadian Dental Care Plan expands to cover millions more
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is set to expand coverage. Starting in May 2025, all remaining eligible adults aged 18 to 64 will be able to apply for coverage, with benefits beginning as early as June 1.
Since its launch, 3.4 million Canadians were approved to be part of the plan, and 1.7 million have already received care.
Application dates
Applications will open by age group:
- May 1 – 55 to 64 years old
- May 15 – 18 to 34 years old
- May 29 – 35 to 54 years old
To qualify, applicants must be Canadian residents, have no access to dental insurance, have filed their 2024 tax return, and have a family net income under $90,000.
Renewal process begins
Canadians already enrolled in the CDCP must renew their coverage to maintain benefits. Renewal applications must be submitted by June 1, 2025, to ensure uninterrupted coverage. Those who do not renew will see their coverage end on June 30, 2025.
