Canadian Dental Care Plan details announced

On Thursday February 8th, 2024 the Government of Canada announced substantial details about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and its program design, including the fee structure.

This is an exciting time for patients and dentists to be part of a significant milestone in the provision of oral health care services for millions of Canadians.

The CDCP has the potential to be the largest expansion of oral health care in Canadian history. It is estimated that 1 in 4 people in Canada avoid going to the dentist because of the cost. More than 600,000 Canadian seniors have applied to be part of the program so far.

CDCP will help cover a wide range of oral health care services that keep teeth and gums healthy and prevent and treat oral health care issues and diseases.

This is a historical opportunity for all oral health professionals to be part of helping more patients get the care they need.

As the regulatory body serving the public interest, we support access to equitable oral health care for all Ontarians.
